This altimeter either uses GPS or the built in barometer (if available) to determine your current elevation on earth. While GPS provides the absolute altitude as long as you see the sky it is not very accurate. With the help of the barometer we can calculate the altitude indoors and outdoors with a much higher accuracy. But we need a reference altitude to calibrate the barometer altitude. This calibration will degrade over time as the air pressure changes with the weather.

Deze hoogtemeter ofwel maakt gebruik van GPS of de ingebouwde barometer (indien beschikbaar) om uw huidige hoogte op aarde te bepalen. Terwijl GPS zorgt voor de absolute hoogte, zolang je de hemel zien het is niet erg nauwkeurig. Met behulp van de barometer kunnen we de hoogte binnen en buiten te berekenen met een veel hogere nauwkeurigheid. Maar we moeten een verwijzing hoogte van de barometer hoogte kalibreren. Deze kalibratie zal degraderen in de tijd als de luchtdruk verandert met het weer.
